Ajman – The Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a virtual meeting with the emirate’s Transportation Working Group, where the Chamber reiterated its commitment to tackling challenges facing the emirate’s transportation sector and reinforcing constructive communication with relevant government and private entities.

Held in collaboration with the Department of Community Development and Ajman’s Transport Authority, the meeting sought to explore the current state of affairs in the transportation sector, identify the challenges it is currently faced with, and propose solutions to service the business community and ensure seamless operations in the transportation sector.

The meeting was chaired by Nasser Al-Dhafri, Executive Director of the Communication and Member Support Sector at Ajman Chamber, with Abdullah Abdulmohsen Al Nuaimi, Director of the Chamber’s Relations and Members Support Office, in attendance. Several officials from the Department of Economic Development and the Ajman Transport Authority were also present, along with representatives of transport sector facilities, institutions, companies, and relevant authorities in the Emirate of Ajman.

“Transportation is a critical sector in Ajman and plays a major role in supporting the emirate’s economy and driving its growth,” asserted Nasser Al-Dhafri. “The Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to strengthening direct communication with all of its members. With that in mind, we organise working groups and host periodic meetings and seminars in an effort to set frameworks for collaboration with all partners, and outline feasible scenarios to support various sectors and boost the emirate’s competitiveness.”

“These meetings we hold echo our leadership’s efforts to empower the sector and minimise the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that the world is still reeling from,” H.E. added. “We aim to develop the sector in line with international best practices and create a platform for the government and private sectors to exchange views, flag the challenges they face, and work together to address them on the ground. This, in turn, helps the sector cater to the requirements and aspirations of investors and businessmen.”

H.E. Al-Dhafri stressed the importance of the meeting against the backdrop of a growing e-commerce sector and expanding supply chains and logistics services. Transportation offers tremendous opportunities and is one of the key economic sectors that the Ajman 2021 Government Strategy focuses on, in an effort to diversify sources of income and increase the emirate’s contribution to the UAE’s GDP, he explained.

At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees applauded Ajman Chamber and participating government entities for their efforts to provide a platform that brings together stakeholders and experts from government and private institutions in the transportation sector, where they can work to address challenges, find solutions, and forecast the future of the sector.
