ABU DHABI, 19th March, 2017 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi Executive Committee at the Executive Council, headed by Jassim Mohammad Buatabah Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Committee, has approved several projects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as part of the Abu Dhabi Plan with a projected value of AED235 million.

The Executive Committee approved a project to develop the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road from the Falah intersection to the Qasr Al Bahr intersection at an overall cost of AED109 million.

The project includes works within the Sheikh Zayed tunnel and several improvements to intersections with the aim of easing traffic, facilitating transport in the city, and increasing the efficiency of the citys road network to keep up with urban development.

The Executive Committee also approved a project to link power generated by the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant to the emirates existing power grid at a cost of AED63 million.

The project seeks to guarantee continuity of electric supply, and to build four 400V overhead transmission lines at the Barakah plant and link them to the two main stations in Madinat Zayed and Bab 2. These will provide a link and supply to the Abu Dhabi General Transport Company network and control centre through the transmission of 5,600MW from the overall power generated at the station.

The committee approved a project to develop the electricity distribution network in Ghayathi and Jebel Dhanna in Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi at a cost of AED41.5m. The project includes the supply and installation of electric cables over 89km to reach the optimal use of power resources, and reinforce sustainable power efficiency in new housing units in Ghayathi and Jebel Dhanna.

The committee also approved an operation and maintenance project for the beautification of the Abu Dhabi Corniche at a cost of AED 22 million. This project includes the cultivation of green spaces and the installation of aesthetic structures, decorative items, fountains, lighting and relevant service facilities in a manner that preserves the citys general appearance and unique cultural identity.
