A Belarusian medical consultant team consists of 13 consultants visited Al Qassimi Hospital for Women and Children in Sharjah, during which the team provided several consultations and performed open heart surgeries, in addition to holding educational sessions and workshops for hospital’s doctors and nurses.

This visit falls within Visiting Doctors Programme, organized by MOHAP’s Visiting Doctors Office with an aim to enrich the experiences of its staff and benefit from the international expertise to invest it for happiness of the society.

Also, the visit comes as a prelude to the inauguration of comprehensive cardiology services unit at Al Qassimi Hospital for Women and Children.

Enhance Scientific Communication

Dr. Kalthoum Mohammed, Director of Hospitals Administration, said that Visiting Doctors Programme aims at enhancing scientific communication with the best global centres and paving the way for the cooperation and exchange of experiences between the doctors in UAE and visiting doctors. This will contribute to improving the methods of various diseases treatment and keeping pace with the recent developments in the global health arena in an endeavor to have a distinctive and innovative healthcare system in accordance with the best international quality standards and to cope with UAE National Health Strategy 2021 and UAE Centennial 2071, which aim to build a healthy society almost free from diseases enjoying the highest level of healthcare.

she also noted that the utilization of the visiting expertise occupies an advanced position in the priorities of the Ministry of Health and Prevention in order to further reinforce the healthcare sector.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Kamaly, pediatric consultant and Head of Pediatric Cardiology at Al Qassimi Hospital for Women and Children, said, upon receiving the visiting team, that Al Qassimi Hospital is considered the only tertiary care hospital that provides multi-specialties in Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and witnesses a good number of pregnancies.

The hospital, also, provides care services for the children who are born with congenital heart disease in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), in addition to the Emergency Unit, Communicable Diseases, Endocrine, Child Psychiatry, Chest Diseases, Diseases of Digestive System, Kidney Diseases and other specialties.

He further added that the visits of worldwide doctors pour in the interest of the patients, noting that Al Qassimi Hospital is one of the best Health care hospitals and a distinguished national centre as well, where treatment of cardiovascular diseases in children are particularly provided. The hospital is also considered an ideal place for establishing a centre of excellence in pediatric cardiology in UAE and Middle East and it could be a role model for cardiac care for children across the region.

Future Plans  

The visiting team expressed happiness for cooperation with Al Qassimi Hospital for Women and Children. They also hailed the outcome of the visit, during which they shared experiences with hospital’s doctors, besides a number of open heart operations have been performed.

The team commended the diverse and distinctive experiences of hospital’s doctors and their capability of handling the emergency and critical cases, in particular that Al Qassimi Hospital comprises a large number of skilled physicians in cardiovascular diseases in children.

At the end of the visit, the Belarusian team expressed their admiration for the new technologies and treatment methods adopted by Al Qassimi Hospital.
