• Multinationals competed on an amateur and professional level

Dubai  - Around 250 fitness enthusiasts participated in a unique fitness challenge last weekend – The ContiFit Challenge – organised by German tyre manufacturer, Continental. Forming the centrepiece of Continental’s 150th anniversary celebrations in the UAE, the ContiFit Challenge allowed attendees to take part in a series of high impact challenges at Al Qudra Last Exit in Dubai.

Participants in the ContiFit Challenge competed in a 150-metre course featuring tyre-based obstacle fitness challenges, including a plank walk, tyre flip, crawl and sprint. Competitors were scored and ranked against the time that was taken to successfully complete all the challenge workouts, with awards for the top three winners in two categories: amateur and professional.

Top of the men’s amateur group was Hansley, who completed the challenge in 1 minute, 9.99 seconds, with Maria Hanczuch of the women’s amateurs finishing at 1:53:00. The professionals had a bit more work to do with extra weight to shift – the winner of the men’s professional fitness challenge was fitness influencer and personal trainer, Jamal Bright Kodjo, with an impressive time of 1:33:10; while the women’s pro winner, Mary Grace Porto, recorded a time of exactly 2 minutes.

There was also a Children’s Play Zone for youngsters, and food trucks serving refreshments, along with music and seating for spectators. In addition, Emirates for Universal Tyres (EUT), Continental’s sole distributor in the UAE, attended the event and offered free car tyre safety checks, carried out by their team of experienced professionals.

The ContiFit Challenge is just one of many events that took place around the globe, celebrating Continental’s 150th anniversary by helping people to exercise and live a healthier life – with the slogan “Mobility. Our heartbeat for 150 years.”

Jamal Bright Kodjo, the winner of the professional group in the ContiFit Challenge said: “It was a great experience taking part and seeing so many different people turn up. The event was suitable for everyone – with families and friends coming out to support each other during the different challenges. I'm looking forward to any future activity from Continental to see what types of challenges and obstacles will be added.”

Mostafa Farouk, Marketing Manager at Continental Middle East said: “The inaugural ContiFit Challenge was extremely well supported, and the atmosphere among the participants was great; it was lovely to experience this 150th anniversary celebration with our friends and colleagues. As we look to the next 150 years, we will aim to continue having a positive influence on the community and making sure all roads ahead are safe and fun.”
