Abu Dhabi City Municipality announced on Wednesday that its newly completed LED street lighting project on Sheikh Zayed Road will reduce electricity consumption by 77 percent.
 
The Municipality said in a press statement that the replacement of conventional lighting units with LED lighting was implemented at a total cost 7.5 million UAE dirhams ($ 2 million) and involved the replacement of 1,983 lights and 608 lighting poles.
