Background

JSC Uzbekgidroenergo developed Uzbekistan Three Hydropower Plants Modernization Project, in Cascade of Lower Bozsu HPPs, Tashkent, Tashkent Province, Uzbekistan. The project covered the construction of modernizing 3 hydroelectric stations with each capacity of 15 MW, 16.6 MW, and 7.05 MW. The three stations were HPP 14 of the Lower Bozsui Cascade, HPP 9 of the Cascade of Tashkent, HPP 2 of the Shahrikhan Cascade. Power Construction Corp of China Ltd was the general EPC contractor; PowerChina Chengdu Engineering Co Ltd was the design consultant; Kunming Yongzhuo Weiye Mechanical & Electrical Equipment Co Ltd was the pipeline supplier. Hydroelectricity being as a clean energy source of Uzbekistan help reduce carbon emissions and protect the surrounding ecological environment, and this project was expected to improve qualities and capacities of these hydroelectric plants. Besides, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the completion of modernization of HPP 14 of the Lower Bozsui Cascade was expected to ease electricity shortage situation.
