Singapore Jurong Region Line Project

Also known as: JRL
Ongoing

Background

Land Transport Authority planned to develop Singapore Jurong Region Line Project, in Central Singapore, Singapore. Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co (Singapore) Pte Ltd (STECS) was the main contractor of design and construction for J102 section. China Railway 11 Bureau Group Co Ltd was the main contractor for J101 section. The JRL was an elevated Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line which would have 24 kilometers of tracks to serve the western part of Singapore. It would reach north to Choa Chu Kang, south to Jurong Pier, west to Peng Kang Hill and east to Pandan Reservoir and would be the third MRT line in Singapore. The whole project would have east side line and west side line. The completion of this project would face many challenges including but not limited to the close-to-residential zone location, dense pipe network under the road and heavy traffic on the project site. The project would ease local transportation and be a typical BRI project with Chinese company involved.
