Background

Lilongwe Water Board planned to develop Lilongwe City Priority Water Supply Network Construction and Related Facilities Project, in Lilongwe, Malawi. PowerChina Stecol Corp' was the contractor. The project covered the construction of 22 KM transmission line, 4 new water pools, newly building, repairing and upgrading 8 pumping stations and other related facilities. The pump stations' area was 181 square meters, with the installation of water pump, regulator tank, transformer, electricity and automation equipment. The Pipeline engineering was about 170 KM. The construction period was 18 months. The guarantee period was 12 months. Lilongwe City was in great need for water supply, thus this project would improve local water supply. The project responded to Belt and Road Initiative.
