Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Nepal planned to develop 756 MW Tamor Storage Hydropower Project in Panchthar and Tehrathum districts of Province 1, Nepal. Nepal Electricity Authority was the Feasibility study consultant. JV of Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL) and Power Construction Corporation of China Limited(PowerChina) was the main contractor. The project covered the construction of a storage hydropower plant with the capacity of 756 MW in Public-private partnership (PPP) model. This project could meet the need for electricity and raise the living standard of local residents. More investment could be attracted to Nepal, which could drive the economy of this country. As a cooperative project, this project could intensify the friendship between China and Nepal. This project could also make contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative.
