Background

Government of Uganda plans to develop 400 MW Victoria Nile River Kiba Hydropower Project on the downstream Victoria Nile River, Jinja, Uganda. China Energy Engineering Group International Engineering Co Ltd was the EPC contractor of the project. The project covered the construction of a 400 MW hydroelectric power plant. The project was one of the nine large-scale cascade hydropower stations over the Nile River initiated by the government of Uganda and was a key part of the country's third national five-year plan. It would be developed under the BOOT model. Upon completion, the project would further enhance Uganda's power generation capacity and optimize the power energy structure, promote industrial development and regional power integration.
