Background

Uganda National Roads Authority planned to develop Busega-Mpigi Expressway Project, in Busega, Kampala, Uganda. Consortium of China Railway 19th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation was the construction contractor. The project covered the construction of 23.7 KM dual carriage expressway with 100 km/h speed. The Busega-Mpigi Expressway project connects Busega to Kyengera, Nabbingo, Kitemu, Nsanji, Maya, Nakirebe, Katende, Kavule, and Mpigi town to the Kampala-Masaka highway. The project would reduce travel time and transportation costs for local people. It would also strengthen the link between China and Belt & Road countries.
