Vedanta Ltd plans to develop Vedanta Blast Furnace Expansion Project, in Amona village, Bicholim, Goa, India. MCC International Corp was the general construction contractor of the project. The main contents included the system upgrade of the blast furnace body, hot blast stove, dry dust removal, and automation. The project covered the construction work of upgrading the blast furance. The project was expected to expand the capacity of blast furnace from 2.92 lakh tpa to 3.50 lakh tpa. It would enhance BF-3 from 0.54 million tpa to 0.65 million tpa through technology up-gradation and set up additional oxygen plant, put up an additional four ovens in battery one to increase production efficiency, and introduce the Ductile iron pipe plant of 0.30 million tpa and Fe-Si plant of 0.005 million tpa. Upon completion, the project would expand the capacity of blast furnace from 2.92 lakh tpa to 3.50 lakh tpa at Amona village, Bicholim taluka in North Goa. The envisaged project would also generate employment for 450 persons.
