Background

Dubai South Properties DWC-LLC plans to develop the Dubai Expo 2020 site in Dubai South, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The project aims to embody Dubai’s overall mission to spur innovation, opportunity, and connectivity. The project covers the construction of 3 main pavilions, spreading over a land area of 220,000 sq.m with a single-storey parking basement covering 147,000 sq.m: the Sustainability Pavilion consists of a cluster of a satellite-dish-shaped structures and will be re-purposed after the expo as a hub to promote sustainable technologies, the Mobility Pavilion consists of a gleaming trefoil-shaped structure and the Opportunity Pavilion which consists of a structure that will use the region’s challenging ecological circumstances as a resource to organize and shape the pavilion spread over an area of 12,000 sq.m with other related facilities. Consortium of HOK - Dubai, Arup Gulf Limited and Populous is the master plan consultant, the JV of CH2M HILL - Dubai and Mace International Limited is the is the PMC, AECOM Middle East Limited - Dubai is the design consultant for Urban planning & public realm, Earth Link & Advanced Resources Development is the environmental consultant, Arcadis International Limited (Dubai Branch) is the design lead consultant, Turner & Townsend is the cost management consultant and Alpin Limited is the renewable energy consultant.
