Background

Ministry of Public Works of Timor-Leste planned to implement the Timor Leste Road Climate Resilience Project from Dili to Ainaro, Timor-Leste. China Shandong International Economic Technical Cooperation Group Ltd was the contractor for construction work of Lot 1. China Wu Yi Co Ltd was the construction contractor for Lot 2 section. The project covered the upgrading and rehabilitation works of 5 sections (lots) in the entire Dili-Ainaro corridor with the total length of 110 kilometers. The drainage facilities, slopes, pavements would be improved through this project. The environmental Assessment report (EIA) was completed in Apr 2012. The project was expected bring significant improvement to the access to social services of communities & citizens of selected regions. This road link corridor is a major link between the Northern and Southern parts of the country and the completion of It would benefit the agricultural sector by connecting farmers to markets and reduce the traffic pressure and time in Timor-Leste.
