National Transmission & Despatch Co Ltd planned to develop 500 KV Pakistan Thar - Matiari Double Circuit Quad Bundle Transmission Line Project, in Thar, Sindh, Pakistan. The project involved the construction of a 245 km, 500 kV high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission line which contained two lots. The Lot I involved the construction of a 110km, 500kV double circuit Quad Bundle Transmission Line constructed by NEPC II; the Lot II involves the construction of a 135km, 500kV Double Circuit Quad Bundle Transmission Line constructed by China National Heavy Machinery Corp. China National Heavy Machinery Corp and China Energy Engineering Group Northeast No.2 Electric Power Construction Co Ltd were two EPC contractors of the project. SNC-Lavalin Inc and Nippon Koei Co Ltd were two consultants of the project. The project was one important part of the Pakistan's Power Backbone Network. It was expected to evacuate around 1,200 MW of electricity from the region of Thar where power projects were being set up to utilise indigenous coal as the primary fuel.
