Ende Corani SA planned to develop 124 MW San Jose Hydroelectric Power Plant Project, in eastern slopes of the Andes, Colomi, Cochabamba, Bolivia. PowerChina Kunming Engineering Corp Ltd was the general EPC contractor of the project. Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co Ltd was one construction contractor of the project. Andritz AG was one supervision consultant of the project. Construction of the project was completed on 6 March 2019 and entered the warranty period. The project was finally transferred to the project owner on 27 February 2020. The project covers the construction of two hydropower plants with one 55 MW and the other 69 MW, 30 KM access roads, 18 KM diversion tunnels, and some other supporting infrastructures. The power plant was expected to meet the nation’s growing energy demand and increase the reliability and security of future power supply. It would leverage the turbine discharge waters from the Corani and Santa Isabel hydropower plants. Besides, this hydropower plant would also help exceed statutory electricity reserves and ensure the stability and reliability of the national power system. During construction, it also created more than 1,000 direct jobs and reduced CO2 emissions in the region after completion.
