Background

EMBA Electricity Production Co Inc planed to develop 2*660 MW Hunutru Coal-Fired Power Plant Project, in Sugozu Village, Yumurtalik, Adana, Turkey. EMBA Electricity Production Co Inc was the owner of the project which was a joint venture between Chinese Shanghai Electric Power Co., Avic-Intl Project Engineering Company and two Turkish investors. Consortium of CPI Power Engineering Co Ltd and AVIC International Holding Corp was one EPC contractor of the project responsible for the general construction. Ilk Construction was one EPC contractor of the project responsible for the construction of marine structures. China Energy Engineering Group Anhui No.1 Electric Power Construction Co Ltd was one construction contractor of the project. The project covered the construction of 2*660 MW Power Plant and other supported facilities. This project was China's biggest project with direct investment in Turkey. In 2012, the project was met with protests from locals and environmentalists so being put on hold until being revived in 2014. The plant would have an installed capacity of 1320 MW and would produce around 11.5 gigawatt-hour (GWh) of electricity annually. The project would also create employment opportunities for over 4,000 people during the construction phase. It would also employ some 500 individuals during the production phase
