Government of Zambia planned to develop Kalomo to Namwala Road Project in Kalomo, Southern Province, Zambia. China State Construction Engineering Corp Ltdwas the contractor of the project. The project covered the construction of 237 km road, which was designed to be from Kalomo to Namwala, and there would be three main phases in the project. The completion of the project had been confirmed safely by Zambia government and it had gone into the maintenance period lasting from 2019 to 2021. This road was the first climate resilient road in Zambia as it was expected to withstand changing climatic conditions. The project would benefit the people in terms of transportation and employment and contributed to the development of the tourism industry in the Kafue National Park. As one of the “Belt and Road” initiative projects, it was also a gift to celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic establishment between China and Zambia.
