JSC KazAzot and Chinese Inner Mongolia Berun Holding Group Co. Ltd plan to implement a joint project for the construction of a Gas Chemical Complex in Aktau Mangistau region, Kazakhstan. Within the JV, several plants will produce methanol, nitrogen fertilizers and olefins. Create production will be in three stages. At the facilities of the new complex, under the first stage, it is planned to launch production of methanol and nitrogen fertilizers by 400 and 600 thousand tons per year, respectively. Also, a 300 MW power plant will be built. Within the framework of the second production stage, one more production will be built for the production of methanol and fertilizers, with a capacity of 600 thousand tons per year each. The third stage will set up the production of olefins, with a capacity of 600 thousand tons of products per year. The raw material will be methanol produced in the first two stages The total capacity of the complex after the launch of all the lines will be 1 million tons of methanol per year, 1.2 million tons of nitrogen fertilizers and up to 600,000 tons of olefins using MTO technology.
