Background

Dangote Oil Refinery Company planned to develop Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex Project, in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. Engineers India Limited was the PMC consultant and EPCM contractor. China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) was the construction contract of atmospheric tower. The 13th Construction Co Ltd of China National Chemical Engineering was one of the construction contractor. honeywell UOP was one of the supplier. Hangxiao Steel Structure Company was the supplier to provide steel structure for the refinery. The project covered the construction of 650000 bpd refinery with 2200 hectares area. The refinery's planned annual output includes 10.4 million tons of gasoline, 4.6 million tons of diesel and 4 million tons of jet fuel. The other products produced each year are 0.6 million tons of polypropylene, 0.5 million tons of carbon black feed, 0.24 million tons of propane and 32,000 tons of sulfur. The refinery would process a variety of light and medium grades of crude to produce Euro-V quality clean fuels including gasoline and diesel as well as jet fuel and polypropylene. Upon completion, it was expected to be the Africa’s biggest oil refinery and the world’s biggest single-train facility. The project would attract more foreign direct investment into Nigeria.
