Kuwait, Kuwait City: Ooredoo Telecom, the first to introduce innovative digital services in Kuwait, took pleasure in welcoming the Assistant Secretary of the Kuwait Olympic Committee Ali Al-Marri and honoring the champions of Team Kuwait for their participation and excellence in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics started in July 2021 in Japan. During the honoring ceremony which was inaugurated by the CEO of Ooredoo Kuwait, Abdulaziz Al-Babtain, he was keen to praise the great achievements of the Olympic athletes during the tournament which was just the crossing point to a more prosperous future with greater pioneering milestones for the State of Kuwait.

The honoring began by celebrating the Kuwait champions, headed by the Assistant Secretary of the Kuwait Olympic Committee Ali Al-Marri, with the presence of each of the players: Abdullah Al-Rashidi, Mansour Al-Rashidi, Talal Al-Rashidi, Abdulrahman Al-Faihan, Abbas Qali, Mudhawi Al-Shammari, Abdulrahman Al-Fadhel and Mohammad Al-Mosawi. Representatives of Ooredoo’s executive management, headed by CEO Abdulaziz Yaqoub Al-Babtain, Acting Chief of Commercial Officer Tapan Trapathi, Senior Director of Corporate Communications Mijbil Al-Ayoub, Director of AlNukhba Department Thamer Al-Tahous, Senior Manager of Public Relations Fatima Dashti, in addition to members of the Corporate Communications team.

Al-Babtain also rewarded all the athletes in which the Bronze medalist, Abdullah Al-Rashidi, was awarded a free lifetime royal number with unlimited minutes, unlimited 5G internet and SMS. While the other nine athletes were treated with a one-year free subscriptions (unlimited minutes, unlimited 5G internet and SMS).

It is noteworthy that the State of Kuwait participated in five sport games in the Olympic Games 2020 that took place from 23 July to 8 August 2021, where the Kuwaiti list included ten players, four in the shooting game, and two in swimming and two in athletics, one in rowing and one in karate.

Abdulaziz Yaqoub Al-Babtain, the Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Kuwait, said: “We take pride of all the ten Olympic athletes who have started the main sport ladder in an honor of our beloved country through their participation and excellence during the tournament.
