• Al-Othman: Our innovative digital services offer our customers a unique banking experience

In a step to provide customers with cutting-edge solutions for quick and easy banking services, National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) launched its newest service allowing new customers to open a new account without visiting the branch, becoming the first bank in Kuwait to launch this service. New NBK customers who have successfully completed the application through this service will be able to use their new accounts instantly on NBK Mobile Banking and NBK online banking.

New customers can now open a new account easily through nbk.com by filling in the assigned account opening application. Customer’s civil ID information will be captured automatically with customer’s consent using digital identity “Kuwait Mobile ID” by the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI). At the end of the application, customers are requested to sign the account opening contract electronically using “Kuwait Mobile ID”. Then, customer creates username and password credentials to use in NBK Mobile Banking and NBK Online Banking, and forthwith enjoy banking with NBK. Since the newly created account is ready for use, the customer has the option to easily deposit money from a local bank with the K-Net payment option, which is also available on the screen. Downloading salary transfer letter is another useful option that is available after completion of application, which is already populated with the information during the application.

“Kuwait Mobile ID” is a secure mobile-based Digital ID derived from the Civil ID. It is capable of identity verification, authentication to online e-services, and applying trusted digital signature to documents and transactions.

Speaking on the new service, Mr. Mohammed Al-Othman, General Manager of Consumer Banking Group, National Bank of Kuwait, said: “We seek to give our existing and prospective customers a unique banking experience from the very first moment. Guaranteeing them access to digital banking services in the context of our understanding of their needs and work to meet them by providing quick and easy banking solutions.

In particular, the importance of digital services during the coronavirus pandemic has reminded us once again how they make our lives easier. Although digital identity is a very new service for Kuwait.. We believe that we have made a great contribution to the digitalization of our products and services by commissioning the service today and we are proud to have realized a major milestone.” he added.

Al-Othman indicated: “The new service comes as part of the continued advancements NBK is making to its digital solutions, namely NBK Mobile Banking and NBK Online Banking. Through these solutions, we aim to provide our customers with top notch  digital banking services through digital technologies and meet the needs of every segment of our customers.”

He added that NBK’s new services and the enhancements introduced to NBK Mobile Banking have received a great response from customers, further affirming the bank's strategy aimed at digital transformation and ensuring the highest standards of services at all times.

Al-Othman affirmed that the Digital Transformation Department of NBK Consumer Banking Group aims to fully integrate the banking services provided at the branches, which are constantly enhanced to meet the needs of customers, and banking services that can be obtained through the bank’s digital channels in a way that ensures customer enjoy a unique banking experience.

NBK ensures it continues to introduce new services and enhancements on its NBK Mobile Banking App, including NBK Geo Alerts that allow customers to receive offers instantly as they visit the participant merchant store at the Avenues, which was first time in Kuwait. “Dark Mode” theme of NBK Mobile App also received very positive feedback from customers. Other advanced features recently rolled out on NBK Mobile Banking include sending Quick Pay links through WhatsApp, new smartwatch functions to show recent transactions of the account and credit cards, new “Currency Exchange” menu to buy and sell different currencies easily, as well as transferring money to NBK Capital International Brokerage Account..

NBK continues to provide convenient digital banking services and payment solutions in line with its Digital Transformation Strategy, which focuses primarily on meeting its customer needs by developing world-class services provided on its digital channels.
