Abdallah bin Ibrahim Al-Saadan, President, Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY), due to present the opening remarks, and Yousef Al-Benyan, Vice Chairman and CEO, SABIC and Chairman, GPCA, who will deliver the keynote address.

Other esteemed speakers on day one will include Cal Dooley, President and CEO, American Chemistry Council, who will discuss achieving global value addition through Responsible Care®, and Er Lucas Ng, General Manager, Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore, who is set to share best industry learnings in EHS&S and the construction of Jurong Island, an artificial landmass on the coast of Singapore, which serves as a regional base to some of the world’s largest chemical producers.

Held under the theme ‘Responsible Care® – Celebrating a decade of Excellence’, the conference will showcase best regional learnings from across the chemical value chain as senior industry executives converge at Saudi Arabia’s state-of-the-art industrial hub to share their latest accomplishments in the areas of environment, health safety and security (EHS&S) and define the future direction for Responsible Care® in the Arabian Gulf region.

The engaging three-day program will cover topics ranging from process safety, circular economy, regulatory collaboration, models of excellence and Responsible Care® beyond the fence in the form of masterclasses, must-attend speaker presentations, conference sessions and audience-led Q&As. As part of a special recognition ceremony on day one, GPCA will honor the industry pioneers for their valuable contribution in establishing a foundation for Responsible Care® in the Arabian Gulf region.

Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, Secretary General, GPCA, commented: “This year we celebrate a decade since Responsible Care® was adopted by chemical companies in the Arabian Gulf region. Given the critical juncture at which the industry stands today, and the increasingly important role it plays for our environment, communities and the economy, this important global industry initiative is no longer just nice to have, it is a license to operate and safeguard chemical companies’ credibility as responsible participants in society and a key part of our future.”

“The praise and global acclaim that GPCA members have received from across the world over the past years are a testament to our unwavering commitment to health, safety, sustainability and environmental excellence. We pride ourselves on the achievements we’ve collectively accomplished and look forward to facing future challenges stronger and more equipped than ever. The Responsible Care® Conference is an opportunity to do just that – to collaborate, share best practice and inspire one another to continue to excel and improve our performance now and in the decades to come.”

Responsible Care® is the chemical manufacturing industry’s environmental, health, safety and security performance initiative, which was launched in Canada in 1984, and is currently practiced in 68 economies around the world. GPCA adopted Responsible Care® in December 2009 in line with its commitment to continually advance the sustainability agenda in the Arabian Gulf chemical industry. Responsible Care® is obligatory for GPCA full member companies and an essential element of an organization’s license to operate.
