- Pavillion designed promoting and integrating the use of renewable energy sources

Dubai, UAE: Emirates Insolaire, a pioneer in the development and application of new solar technologies & a joint venture of Dubai Investments PJSC and Swissinso SA has announced the successful completion of the installation of Photo-Voltaic (PV) solar panels at the Expo 2020 Monaco pavilion. With the Company’s patented Kromatix™ Technology - colored PV panels - for BIPV [Building Integrated Photo-Voltaic] system, installed on the façade of the main building and standard PV panels system, placed on the roof of the adjacent building, the solar panels will lead to 85% of energy savings, meeting the entire energy demand of the pavilion.

Integrating solar cells into the glass panels, each Kromatix glass panel provides a power of 260Wp. The electricity produced from the Kromatix solar panels gets directly fed into the electrical main distribution via grid connected inverter and gets supplied to the entire pavilion. The standard solar panels with a rated power of 325Wp each are oriented to get best energy results out of the entire system.

Registering an energy yield of approximately 28,050 kWh annually with the Kromatix panel, the standard solar panels yield 39,700kWh annually. With a standard orientation and tilt angle, facilitating symmetrical working, 5 grid connected inverters, accelerate the power output for the entire pavilion.

“With Expo 2020 committed to hosting one of the most sustainable World Expos in history, Emirates Insolaire’s focus has always been inclined towards providing the perfect integration with high efficiency and self-sufficiency, producing clean energy while preserving the environment. The solar panel installations will support a drop in Co2 emissions by 41 Tons annually and is designed promoting and integrating the use of renewable energy sources. Integrating our patented technology into the polygon-shaped structure, designed to be powered using the photovoltaic panels as per the agreement with the Monaco board’s commitment, complements our vision to raise awareness on sustainability”, said Rafic Hanbali, Managing Partner of Emirates Insolaire.

According to industry reports, the United Arab Emirates solar energy market is expected to record a CAGR of more than 15% in the forecast period, 2020-2025. Photovoltaic solar energy has been growing at a significant rate and expected to witness high growth in the forecast period and dominate the solar market. With the adaption of a visionary UAE Energy Strategy 2050, the country is set to increase the clean energy share to 44% by 2050 by investing in nuclear and solar energy.

As one of the world’s most densely populated countries, Monaco is looking to embrace green initiatives as part of its vision for the future and the Monaco pavillion is a representation of that.

As per the agreement with the Monaco Inter Expo on the installation of the customised solar panels from Emirates Insolaire, Albert Croesi, Commissioner General, Monaco Pavilion said, “The main and polygonal shape of the pavilion and the prominent use of photovoltaic panels evokes the eco-friendly governance of Monaco and its ambition to take action to protect the environment. We were committed to designing a Pavilion that will achieve a balance between electricity production and consumption. With the use of the Kromatix™ technology offered by Emirates Insolaire, we were able to combine full architectural design flexibility and unparalleled panel aesthetics with optimum panel performance for solar building integration. Beyond their aestheticism, the function of these panels is now to produce, between the beginning of 2021 and mid 2022, the electricity consumption useful for the life of our pavilion”.

Providing cost-effective and sustainable customization, Emirates Insolaire’s coloured and sustainable solar panels, breakthrough photovoltaic modules and solar thermal collectors offer flexibility and can be easily adapted to façades and roofs. The highly sustainable solar panels are designed and produced to not only cut down on greenhouse gas emissions but also considerably reduce utility bills.
