The Day 1 of Middle East WealthTech Forum 2021 kickstarted on May 03rd 2021 at sharp 10:00 am with a welcome note & opening remarks followed by a panel discussion regarding ‘An Overview of WealthTech Adoption in the Middle East’. The conference included discussions and presentation on topics like ‘An Overview of WealthTech Adoption in the Middle East’ and ‘The Role of Investment Managers in the Post COVID-19 Era’.

The session was opened by a welcome note by the founder and CIO of FinMark Capital Limited, Kunal Chawla. The session further progressed to a panel discussion talking about the changing face of client relationships in the wealth management industry, the impact of a booming Fintech and WealthTech ecosystem and how financial institutions have an upper hand adopting digitization and how the financial institutions can use technology to their advantage. The panel discussion was moderated by Kunal Chawla with panelists like Mones Bazzy, the Head of Private Banking Wealth Management at Bank of Sharjah; Deepak Agarwal, CEO – Middle East and Africa, Kotak Mahindra (UK) Ltd. and Navneet Kampani, Managing Director Chief Investment Officer & Risk Head, Lamer Capital Limited. The panel was followed by a 15-minute networking break where the delegates and sponsors could network, setup online meeting and visit booths. The conference resumed with yet another interesting panel discussion by Chief Investment Officer’s titled ‘The Role of Investment Managers in the Post COVID-19 Era’. Several interesting points were discussed from which Mones Bazzy shared insights on how Bank of Sharjah invested a lot in delivering the best practices and opting for the best infrastructure which will further boost the company’s growth. Jacques Bernard, the General Manager at Wealth Element LLC shared how he believed that cryptocurrency is not an alternative option for investing. The session was closed by a presentation by Ihab Khader, the Senior Account Manager at Etoro.

The conference will be held online for 2 days, 03rd and 04th of May. It will continue with more topics and speakers tomorrow some of which include Luis Ugedo, Managing Director EMEA at Masttro; Chandrashekhar Kekane, Managing Director - GCC & Africa at ASK Investment Managers Ltd; Kieron Franklin, Director Elite Banking & Wealth Management at RAK Bank and many other industry stalwarts.
