Cairo: Egypt's local wheat procurement has increased by 10% this season from a year ago but is not expected to exceed the government's target of 3.6 million tonnes, Supply Minister Ali Moselhy said on Thursday.

The government is close to procuring 3.2 million tonnes of wheat for bread and 400,000 tonnes of wheat for pasta, Moselhy said.

Egypt's strategic reserves of vegetable oils are sufficient to cover its consumption for 3.4 months, he added. Source: Zawy
