CAIRO- Egypt is about to add another 330,000 tonnes to its grain silo storage capacity after having expanded it by 5.9% in 2019, the cabinet said in a statement on Monday.

Capacity rose to 3.6 million tonnes at the end of 2019 from 3.4 million tonnes a year earlier, the statement said.

"The government aims to open five more silos, which are ready now, with a (total) capacity of 330,000 tonnes," the cabinet said.

"It has decided to erect 60 field silos with a total storage capacity of 300,000 tonnes alongside the development of old silos and an expansion of their capacity to preserve their sustainability," it added.
