JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia on Thursday confirmed its donation of $150 million to Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization to help international efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The confirmation was made by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan who represented the Kingdom at the virtual Global Vaccine Summit hosted by the United Kingdom.

The Kingdom had pledged in March that it would contribute $500 million toward anti-coroanvirus global efforts during an extraordinary virtual G20 summit.

Taking to Twitter after his participation in the summit, Prince Faisal said: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirms its support for the noble work @gavi carries out in protecting human lives. I was honored to represent the Kingdom at today’s #VaccineSummit and to announce the allocation of $150 million to support the great efforts of the alliance.”
