JEDDAH - King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah (KAIA) started receiving the world’s great Formula 1 drivers who are participants of the largest event in the world of speed racing “Formula 1 Grand Prix 2021,” set to begin on Friday.

The airport authorities have decorated the reception lounges with Formula cars, as well as welcoming words, Kingdom’s flags, Formula 1 racing logos, apart from pictures of the participating teams and drivers.

KAIA, in cooperation with the Formula1 Organizing Committee, has made elaborate arrangements to accommodate the large numbers of arriving guests and participants, in addition to receiving Formula-related shipments, such as: racing cars and other equipment that arrived in Jeddah during the past few days.

The KAIA has allocated a special fast track for the participants to facilitate their movement as part of the preparations, such as customs, in addition to allocating 11 counters to serve them and human cadres to assist them in the baggage claim area and provide them with all the instructions and information they need while they are at the airport.

The KAIA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, has provided all the required health services. There has also been coordination with the airport traffic department to avoid crowding in the designated areas for picking the participants to their accommodation.

It is noteworthy that Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser has inaugurated the Saudi Arabian Airlines' new Alfursan lounge at the international departure area in Terminal 1 at KAIA to receive Formula 1 guests. The lounge is spreading over on an area of 3500 square meters and designed to accommodate about 10,000 guests per day, as it is considered as the largest lounge for frequent flyers among the 19 members of the global SkyTeam Airlines Alliance.

The levels of suspense and excitement are increasing as the first edition of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is approaching, where the global attention is focused on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit to see the challenge of the world’s best Formula 1 racers between Dec. 3 and 5.
