The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Monday announced new 277 cases of Covid-19 in the UAE, taking the total to 2,076 cases.

Twenty-three recoveries were also announced. Unfortunately, one more patient died from the disease.

"With today's 23 recoveries the total number of recoveries is now 167, while an Asian resident was declared dead, taking the total number of deaths to 11."

The announcement comes a day after the ministry confirmed 294 cases of the pandemic.

Dr Farida Al Hosani, the ministry spokesperson, said within 48 hours the government will announce solutions to cope with the mounting demand for online purchase and deliveries.

"We are aware of the fact that there is a lot of pressure especially when it comes to online purchasing and deliveries where we had restriction of movement. We would like to affirm that this is our priority and that UAE government is working with private sector and seeking outlets to facilitate the this and increase their capacity and overcome challenges and find solutions."

She added that all hospitals in the country were accepting Covid-19 cases, but some hospitals like Al Rahba Hospital in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain were specialised in dealing with emergency cases, especially for isolation facilities.

The official said the government has also opened new testing centers at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi.

For emergency cases with severe breathing and respiratory issues, residents are advised to approach the emergency services for a quick response. For mild symptoms, residents are advised to contact the Ministry of Health call centre at 8001111 or the Department of Health Abu Dhabi's call centre at 8001717 or the Dubai Health Centre call centre at 800342.
