Travellers from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal will not be allowed entry into the UAE until July 7, UAE-based carrier Etihad has confirmed.

The travel ban on the Asian countries may be extended, but will not apply to certain flyers, including diplomats, UAE citizens and golden visa holders.

“You will be unable to enter the UAE if you are travelling from [the said countries], or if you have visited these countries in the past 14 days until the 7 July,” the carrier said on its website.

“The only exemptions to this are if you are a diplomat or UAE national or golden visa holder… Your PCR test in this case must be taken a maximum of 48 hours before your flight departure.”

The airline said customers will continue to see flights to the Asian destinations as available when they book online, as exemptions apply to select travellers.

The UAE regularly updates its entry requirements.

On Sunday, the United Kingdom was removed from Abu Dhabi’s green list of destinations that flyers can travel from without undergoing a quarantine upon arrival.

The list so far includes at least 28 countries.
