Central Bank of Bahrain resolves 54 complaints

The unit received 11 complaints regarding disputed amounts

  

MANAMA: All 54 complaints received by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) consumer protection unit from April to June 2021 have been resolved, it has emerged.

The banking regulator’s Customer Complaints Report for April-June 2021 shows that the unit received 18 complaints in April, 21 in May, and 15 in June this year, adding up to a total of 54 for the quarter.

During the three months, the unit received 11 complaints regarding disputed amounts, with the institutions in question being Credimax, Ahli United Bank, Ithmaar Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Citibank, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, and National Bank of Bahrain.

Eight complaints resolved by the regulator that were about delays in processing of transactions and car insurance claims, pertained specifically to Kuwait Finance House, NEC, Rain Management, Arabia Insurance, Bahrain National Insurance, Takaful International, and Gulf Union Insurance.

Issues involving credit cards accounted for six complaints, with the parties in question being Ithmaar Bank, Bahrain Islamic Bank, National Bank of Bahrain, Bahrain Credit, and Standard Chartered Bank.

Arab Bank, Bahrain Development Bank, Bahrain Islamic Bank, and Kuwait Finance House were the institutions mentioned in five complaints regarding loans, whereas the unit received four complaints regarding rescheduling loans, one each from customers of Bahrain Islamic Bank, Citibank, Khaleeji Commercial Bank, and National Bank of Bahrain.

Three complaints resolved by the regulator pertained to disputed car insurance claims from AXA Insurance and t’azur.

Two complaints by customers of NEC and Rain Management regarding fees and charges were also resolved.

The CBB report says it resolved 15 complaints regarding cheques, disputes in investment/ insurance policies, ATM card delivery, dormant account, POS machine, processing of shares, rejection of life insurance claim, viewing the Benefit report, and closure of account from customers of Bahrain Development Bank, Venture Capital Bank, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, Takaful International, Nexus Financial Services, Zurich Insurance, Ahli United Bank and Bahrain Kuwait Insurance Company.
