AMMAN Minister of Local Administration Walid Masri on Sunday said that the salaries of all municipalities accounted for 44 per cent of municipal budgets.

The minister said that salaries comprised 80 per cent of municipalities budgets in previous years, adding that the current rate is still high but is close to international standards, which stand at 35 per cent, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In a meeting with members of the Municipal Council of Irbid on Sunday, Masri estimated ministry support to municipalities to be around JD600 million in fuel revenues and JD400 million in international grants.
