Kuwait’s consumer price index (CPI) increased by 1.68% year-on-year during September 2019.

The country's inflation rate stood at 115 points in September 2019, compared to 113.1 points in the same month last year, Kuwait’s Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) disclosed on Sunday.

The annual performance was affected by higher prices in eleven groups that were topped by transportation basket with 5.41%, compared to the housing services group which edged down by 0.78%.

Month-on-month, the inflation rate grew by 0.35% as a result of the rise in the costs of eight groups topped by the education with 1.31%. The recreation and culture cost declined by 0.27%, while the baskets of tobacco, housing services, and restaurants and hotels remained unchanged.

Excluding the food and beverages group, the country’s inflation rate went up by 1.58% year-on-year and 0.35% month-on-month, while excluding the housing services group, the inflation went up by 2.86% year-on-year and 0.52% month-on-month.
