KUWAIT CITY - The total foreign aid and subsidies provided by Kuwait to countries all over the world is said to have exceeded 1.77 billion dinars over the past ten years (2008/2009 to 2018/2019), with an annual average of 177.7 million dinars, in addition to the assistance provided by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Statistics show the fiscal years 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 accounted for 42 percent of the total aid over the 10 years, amounting to 743 million dinars of which 419 million was in 2014/2015, ranked highest in terms of aid for that particular fiscal year.

The statistics also show the fiscal 2017/2018 was ranked last with 3.6 million dinars, compared to 112.6 million in 2018/2019, which jumped in the last year by a very high percentage point compared to the previous.

The Minister of Finance, Dr Nayef Al-Hajraf, in response to a question by MP Thamer Al- Suwait said, “the ministry implements the resolutions of foreign aid and subsidies provided by Kuwait to brotherly and friendly countries in accordance with the decisions of the Council of Ministers.”
