AMMAN — Jordan’s tourism revenues during the first third of the year decreased by 69.7 per cent to JD237.3 million, compared with same period last year, figures from the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) showed on Monday.

Jordanians’ payment on travel in the first four months of 2021 also dropped by 53.7 per cent to JD88.4 million when compared with the same period last year, the CBJ said as cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Arrivals to the Kingdom in the January-April period totalled 339,000 passengers compared with 1.515 million arrivals in the same period of 2020, while 355,000 passengers departed the Kingdom in the firth-third of 2021 compared with 1.552 million in the January-April period of 2020.

The CBJ also noted that expatriates’ remittances in the first four months of 2020 dropped by JD10 million, 12 per cent, to JD790.7 million, compared with the same period of last year.
