India has become the world’s sixth largest economy, surpassing France, as its gross domestic product (GDP) rose to a total of $2.597 trillion.

India’s economy grew by $15 billion to $2.597 trillion, compared with $2.582 trillion for France, as shown by the data of the World Bank on Wednesday.

The United States maintained its position as the biggest economy in the world with a GDP of $19.390 trillion, followed by China with $12.237 trillion.

The World Bank is expecting the Indian economy to grow by 7.5% over the next year, becoming the fourth biggest economy in the globe by 2022.
