ALGIERS: Algeria's annual inflation fell to 2.7% in July from 3.1% the previous month after a drop in prices for some foodstuffs, official figures showed on Sunday.

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index was down 0.7% in July, according to the data released by the National Statistics Bureau.

Costs for fruits and vegetables went down 34.1% and 3.1% respectively, while the price of poultry rose 5.4%.

Algeria has been seeking to increase domestic output and reduce its imports bill to cut deficits after a fall in energy earnings.
