Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The consumer price index (CPI) in the emirate of Abu Dhabi inched up 0.5% year-on-year in May to 111.9% from 111.3%, according to a report released by the Statistics Centre of Abu Dhabi (SCAD).

Month-on-month, the CPI in the UAE’s capital increased by 1.5% last May, versus 110.2% in April, the SCAD revealed.

In the same vein, the CPI slipped 0.6% to 111.2% during the first five months of 2019, compared to 111.9% in the same period of 2018, the report added.

The housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel services segment contributed to the CPI growth rate by 180.4%.
