• New CEO to boost Cigna’s world-class health and wellness offerings for individuals, groups and government entities across the Middle East

DUBAI, UAE:– Cigna Corporation (NYSE:CI), a global health services company, has appointed Jerome Droesch its new Chief Executive Officer for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and Board Member of Cigna’s joint venture operations in India and Turkey.

The move reinforces the company’s commitment to the fast-growing insurance industry in the Middle East. As the premier provider of health and wellness solutions in the region, Cigna Insurance Middle East remains focused on delivering service excellence to the local populations in each market.

Jerome will be responsible for building a customer-centric portfolio of offerings in the region in line with Cigna’s core promise to improve the health, well-being and peace of mind of those it serves.

“We are pleased to welcome Jerome Droesch on board with us at Cigna,” said Howard Gough, Chief Executive Officer of Cigna EMEA, Global Health Solutions & Global Government Solutions. “A seasoned and well-known insurance leader with extensive experience in general and health insurance, he is well-poised to drive the continued growth of the company.”

“Having made significant progress in 2018, which resulted in Cigna’s recognition as the Health Insurer of the Year at the MENA IR Insurance Awards, we are confident that Jerome’s leadership will further strengthen our product and service portfolio in the next phase of our regional expansion,” he added.

Over the past year, Cigna has launched its first-ever individual private medical insurance (IPMI) solution for the Middle East region, Cigna HealthguardSM, as well as its unique Cigna Wellbeing™ app. In April 2018, the company rolled out its global health benefits (GHB) proposition for employers in Lebanon.

In addition, Cigna has increased its regional workforce to over 300 employees and is investing in developing localized service functions across regulated markets.

“With the Middle East and North Africa considered a key growth market under the company’s global strategy, we look forward to expanding our presence across the region. Through a dedicated consumer focused approach, we are well-positioned to achieve 30 percent growth by 2020,” said Jerome Droesch. “Over the next year, we aim to go deeper and beyond in the MENA region by offering global products and solutions tailored to the needs of the local customer. I look forward to working with the exceptional team at Cigna, and helping the company realize this vision and strengthen its presence in the region.”
