KUWAIT CITY: YIACO Medical Company, one of the leading healthcare networks in Kuwait issued an update on the status of the Al-Adan Radiology Nuclear Medicine Laboratory Center BOT Project transfer to the Ministry of Health during a press conference held at the YIACO headquarters today. The press conference was held to issue clarification statements in response to recent factually inaccurate media news and reports on the Al-Adan Hospital BOT Project transfer that officially took place last November.

During the press conference, YIACO Medical Company CEO, Dr. Bader Alzaid Altraiji, explained that the handover of the Al-Adan Hospital project to the Ministry of Health was through a multi-faceted and phased approach, which included a regimented set of checklists in order to ensure a successful handover.

"As a company that prides itself in a structured way of operating our business, we believe that any form of handover should be handled through a disciplined approach and this was duly reflected in the handover of the Al-Adan Hospital project. As part of the contract, one of the conditions in handing over the center to the Ministry of Health is to exchange or replace any medical equipment that is outdated or no longer in usable condition. All equipment change is approved by the Ministry of Health, and the bidding companies are required to submit a full report on the equipment specifications. The newly added equipment is the first of its kind in the region with cutting-edge technology.

We would like to clarify that exchanging or replacing any equipment incurs no additional costs for the Ministry of Health and is carried by our company. Therefore, any allegation or scrutiny towards the Ministry of Health on increased expenditure due to purchasing new equipment is baseless and inaccurate.

In addition, in order to keep up with the growing number of patients during the period of the project, YIACO has replaced an MRI device at their own expense, which was registered outside the scope of the contract.

We are currently finalizing the last few aspects of the transfer process and we should be able to complete the handover soon. Upon the final completion of the transfer, YIACO also expects to receive the financial remuneration by the Ministry of Health with regards to Al-Adan Hospital BOT Project, hoping to further develop mutually successful partnerships with the ministry. On behalf of YIACO Medical Company, we welcome any query from any interested entity to clarify their doubts or allegations with regards to the Al-Adan Hospital BOT Project as I strongly believe that one of the most important values that we pride ourselves on at the company is integrity and transparency across all our projects with the Ministry of Health and other partners."

YIACO Medical Company served more people than expected throughout the 10-year tenure in which it operated the Al-Adan Radiology Nuclear Medicine Laboratory Center and is one of the largest healthcare partners in Kuwait since 1953 catering to both medical products & services to the private and public sectors with a prime objective in ensuring the well-being of the patients and general public.
