Abu Dhabi – Emirates Telecommunications Group (Etisalat) revealed it has not imposed any additional charges on using the 5G network services, Al-Ittihad newspaper reported.

Customers of the telecom firm can directly connect with the 5G network via their smartphones at the same prices of bundles available for subscription.

All the company's SIM cards are compatible with the 5G technology, therefore, customers do not have to replace them to benefit from the services, senior vice president corporate communications at Etisalat Ahmed Bin Ali said.

Bin Ali added that Etisalat supports companies to manufacture and launch new models of mobile phones in the local markets to diversify the options for consumers and raise the number of compatible devices with the 5G technology.

He also emphasized that all the devices the company provides for its customers were subject to tests under the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to ensure safety and security.

On Wednesday, Etisalat and Huawei launched the latter’s first commercial 5G-enabled smartphone Huawei Mate 20 X, the second 5G device introduced to the Emirati market, at Etisalat’s Open Innovation Centre in Dubai.
