The total number of guests in the (3-5) star category in Oman fell by 49.5% at the end of January 2021 to stand at 78,451 guests compared to 155,488 guests for the same period of 2020, a report said.

Meanwhile, the as the occupancy rate reached 27%, reported Oman News Agency (ONA), citing the latest monthly statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The total revenues of these hotels also fell to RO6.231 million ($16.4million) in January 2021, compared to RO21.026 million during the same period of the previous year.

Among the nationalities, the Omani guests constituted the maximum number of visitors with 76% to stand at 59,735 guests. This was followed by the Asian guests with 7,435, the European guests with 3,482, the Arab guests (excluding GCC countries) with 2,242 and the GCC guests with 1,468.

The number of American guests reached 1,437, followed by the Oceanian guests with 708, the African with 377 guests and 1,567 guests from other nationalities.
