Emirates will be resuming more flights next week and in September, which will bring the airline’s network to a total of 74 destinations before the end of the third quarter.

Starting August 20, the UAE-based carrier will be flying to Cebu, Philippines and to Houston in the United States on August 23. By September, the airline will be serving passengers in Birmingham in the United Kingdom.

The airline has been gradually re-deploying its aircraft on various routes around the world since travel restrictions have eased. Dubai has also just started welcoming international visitors back, in a bid to restart its tourism-dependent economy.

The travel industry has been among the worst hit by the outbreak, with airlines in the Middle East region expected to lose billions of US dollars in revenues this year.

Resumed services

Emirates said flights between Dubai and Birmingham will operate four times a week, while flights between Dubai and Cebu will operate twice weekly, utilising an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

As for the Dubai to Houston route, flights will operate three times a week, utilising an Emirates Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.

The airline had earlier assured that it will cover coronavirus-related medical expenses, free of cost, should they get infected with the virus during their travel while they are away from home.

The insurance coverage is applicable to passengers flying on Emirates until October 31, 2020 (first flight to be completed on or before October 31, 2020) and will be valid for 31 days from the moment they fly the first sector of their journey.
