Elsewedy Electric, a leading wires and cables and integrated energy solution provider in the region, said its consortium with Japan's Toyota Tsusho has secured an EPC contract worth E1.46 billion ($93 million) for upgradation of the electricity distribution network in North Cairo region.

As per the deal, Elsewedy Electric's scope of work includes engineering, procurement and installation of all the project components.

It will also complete the instalation of 500,000 smart meters, DMS, AMI and RTU in addition to the smart ring link panels and also provide smart solution to digitise the network.

Elsewedy Electric said this project will help in upgrading the electricity infrastructure in Egypt as well as cutting the electricity loss, theft and enhancing the quality of network. It will be implemented within 910 days on a turnkey basis, it added.
