Abu Dhabi –  Construction costs in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi increased 3.6% in the fourth quarter of 2017, compared to the year-ago period, Statistics Centre in Abu Dhabi (SCAD) said.

Construction Cost Index hit 98% during Q4-17, versus 94.6% in Q4-16, the SCAD’s report added.

The state-run body attributed the growth to an 8% rise in construction materials, followed by 6.3% increase in mechanical works and air conditioning, 5.2% in finishing materials, 3.8% in the electricity business, 1.5% in services prices, and 1.2% in employment.

The SCAD further noted that costs of establishments levelled up 1.1% in Q4-17, compared to Q3-17.
