Dubai - United Arab Emirates - 28th of October, 2014
The Big Entertainment Show (BES) concluded its activities today, with over 4000 trade visitors and attendees. Over the course of the 2 days, 20 prominent speakers specialized in the games development, character, and TV content industries shared their knowledge and experience during the sessions of the summits held parallel to BES. The Big Entertainment Show is divided into the Dubai International Brand and Licensing Fair, Dubai World Game Expo, and MYCONTENT.
The summits brought forth recommendations to tackle challenges and changes in this evolving industry and created an excellent platform for businessmen, investors, and leaders of this industry to interact and discuss the latest updates and productions at a time where the worldwide market for entertainment content is growing at a very fast pace, including the Middle East Market.
Commenting on their participation in the Middle East Game Developers Summit, Jeroen Schlosser, Managing Director of Equinix MENA said: "MENA region is the fastest emerging market for online gaming, with growing internet penetration, and 60 % of the 350 million people in the Arab world below the age of twenty five. The region presents huge potential for gaming developers, publishers, e-payment platforms and overall consumption. A gaming infrastructure built in a network dense datacenter with a low latency access to users, is the key to driving the growth and enhancing the overall user experience in the region."
The Big Entertainment Show witnessed a remarkable participation from the UAE, South Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Argentina, Russia, Lebanon, Morocco, Malaysia, Belgium, Egypt, Germany, India, Austria, United Kingdom, Turkey, the United States and Japan. It also hosted six national pavilions this year from South Korea, Morocco, Japan, and Malaysia. The Korean participation in BES came to provide information regarding Korea's contents industry, paving the way for the two nations to actively exchange more cultural contents; Malaysia had also witnessed a significant participation with a great number of Malaysian companies exhibiting at BES.

Licensing, on the other hand, has played a key role in the growth and development of the entertainment business in the region. This conclusion was evident by the strong retail sales of properties springing primarily from feature films, TV Shows, Video Games and Online Entertainment. The show this year witnesses important participation from Arsenal Football Club, Murjan Trading and Jumjum World.
On the sidelines of the show, INDEX Conferences & Exhibition signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korea Creative Content Agency; one of the biggest Korean agencies dedicated to promoting all types of Korean content (TV, animation, cartoon, character) all over the world. The MOU aims to explore mutually beneficial opportunities for possible business relationships in the field of content and animation industries in both countries: Korea and the United Arab Emirates.
From his side, Eng. Anas Al Madani, Vice - Chairman and CEO of INDEX Holding commented on this saying: "We look forward to our collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency through this Memorandum of Understanding to secure strategic partners for them in the MENA region. There is no doubt that Korea has no shortage of creative content that has been spreading in the MENA region as we have been noticing lately in the major TV stations. This MOU will reinforce their presence as we will aim to link them with potential clients in the region."
Exhibitors were busy showing their products to visitors, and many of them reportedly achieved their targets and goals from participating in the show. Johan Nawawi, Director of Hud Hud Media, a Malaysian company exhibiting as part of the Malaysian Pavilion and is participating for the 4th time in a row, expressed his satisfaction about this year's participation and confirmed that he'll be participating in BES 2015.
