Huawei, a leader in global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, signed a memorandum of agreement with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). The agreement, which was signed at the academy, constitutes the cooperation between both parties on strategic level.

Huawei and AASTMT will be Technology & Consultant Partners working on developing business and technology in mutual interests. The partnership aims to facilitate the transfer of know how and knowledge where by AASTMT act as partner and consultant in helping Huawei in areas such as ITS, Railways, Seaports, Metro inside and outside Egypt. In addition to providing education related solutions for the Academy's campus and colleges, Huawei as the industry giant will provide AASTMT with global practice cases, wide-scope innovative solutions as well as engineering training program. Both parties aim to develop the innovation center where Huawei can provide training programs and Huawei Certified Network Engineer for the Academy's students.

Prof.Dr. Ismail Abdel Gafar Ismail Farag President of AASTMT said:" we are proud to cooperate with Huawei which will enhance the Smart Culture within ASSTMT utilizind Huawei Better Connected World solutions." He added:" the MOU marks the start of a further developed strategic alliance. Building intelligent traffic systems requires intelligent resources, which we have in the academy to work on the intelligent technologies that Huawei can offer not only smart technologies but also smart people. This cooperation will result in applications that will help develop the maritime systems and international transportation and logistics."

Huawei will also undertake the development of business in the Cloud Computing, Big Data, Smart Transportation and Wireless Video Surveillance area working side by side with ASSTMT while providing all the possible help and assistance in the ICT field to the Academy.

Hakim Zhang, Vice President of Huawei North Africa Said:" We would like to expand the partnership and offer Huawei edged technologies and innovative industry solutions to the partners in a broad area. Today we inked the MOU and both parties intend to build up joint lab and innovation center to deepen the cooperation and expertise conveyance.  Congratulations to both of us!."

Huawei has been actively engaging in the Egyptian scene following the latest visit the President of Egypt made to China where he met with Huawei's Chairwoman Madam Sun Yafang to discuss ways of expanding cooperation between Egypt and Huawei in areas such as communications networks and ICT construction.
