Abu Dhabi, UAE - 21 January 2015

Sami Khoreibi, CEO of Enviromena Power Systems ("Enviromena"), a UAE-based international solar photovoltaic integrator, highlighted the consistent cost of producing solar energy in comparison to the volatile long-term cost of hydrocarbons in 'The Next Wave of Growth Markets' panel discussion at the World Future Energy Summit on Tuesday 21st January 2015.

At the panel, moderated by Michael Liebreich, Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Sami commented: "Solar plants are no longer being built as flagship or environmental projects. Costs of production have fallen significantly over the past few years, and solar now makes sense from an economic point of view. Added to this, volatility in the price of crude oil has demonstrated to governments that solar is a far more consistent, dependable alternative to hydrocarbons."

Sander Trestain, Enviromena's Executive Director - Projects, was awarded the 'Solar Pioneer 2015' award by the Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), for demonstrating innovation, long-term vision, leadership, and impact in leading the growth of solar across the MENA region. He was selected among a group of 10 solar leaders and innovators under the age of 40 based across the Middle East by a panel of international judges.

Following on from Sami's acceptance of the award in 2014, Enviromena became the only company whose employees have received the award twice.

Mr. Trestain said: "I am very pleased to receive this award and for Enviromena to be recognized as a leading industry player by MESIA once again. This is an extremely exciting time to be working in solar as current growth prospects are huge. Growing regional energy demand and solar's increasingly competitive economics against conventional sources of energy production are catalyzing the unprecedented construction of large-scale solar power plants across the region."

The Solar Pioneer awards form an integral part of MESIA's mandate to promote solar power across the Middle East, achieved by working closely with the leaders in the solar power sector, both at the government and grass-root level.

Enviromena has completed over 30 solar photovoltaic projects in 6 countries since 2007, totalling over 40 MW, and has the largest installed capacity of solar photovoltaic projects in the Middle East and North Africa.
