Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir received the GIFA Special Award 2014 for the excellent work the State has carried out for the promotion and welfare of the people. He commented on the occasion "To effectively transform society, the welfare of the people must be close to our heart; we need to go down to the 'field', experience how they 'feel' and 'fix' their problem. This is what I called the 3F (Field, Feel, Fix) framework for Societal Empowerment. We are indeed honored that the transformation that we aspire for the State of Perak is given due recognition and we are pleased to participate in the forthcoming GIFA ceremony. GIFA promotes social responsibility and commitment to Islamic finance to ensure the continuous prosperity of the Ummah". Other prominent winners were Dr Adnan Chilwan, CEO of Dubai Islamic Bank who at being named the "Islamic Banker of the Year 2014", said "It is indeed a great honor and privilege to receive this award which so many eminent personalities have been a recipient of in the past. I am an Islamic banker at heart and having been chosen for this award knowing that there were many qualified applicants is a truly humbling and gratifying experience. Whilst this award is a recognition for my personal and professional contribution to the field of Islamic banking and finance, this is not the end-game for me. I truly believe that we are barely scratching the tip of the iceberg as we continue to unlock the potential of this relatively nascent and ethical form of banking."
